Air quality has a major impact on the quality of life of citizens and, therefore, is subject to precise and transparent monitoring. Brussels Environment is in charge of collecting, monitoring and analysing data relating to the Brussels Region. In Belgium, the Interregional Environment Agency (IRCEL - CELINE) coordinates and compiles data for the country. The data
This data is an index that brings together, in one representative number, the concentrations of several pollutants in the ambient air.Its origin
This index is calculated by Brussels Environment and retrieved automatically on the Brussels web page devoted to air quality https://qualitedelair.brussels/pollumetre/widgetHow is it obtained ?
The global quality index is measured at the 12 stations which form part of the Brussels Region telemetric network for four pollutants (ozone, nitrogen dioxide, PM10 and PM2.5 fine particles). Further information on the calculation method for this index here https://www.irceline.be/fr/qualite-de-lair/mesures/belaqi-indice-de-la-qualite-de-lair/informationComments
In general, there is a long-term improvement in air quality in northwest Europe, especially in Belgium and in the Brussels Region. All the information on Brussels air quality and potential alerts in the case of pollution spikes can be found on https://www.qualitedelair.brussels . Wifi.brussels is the Brussels network of free Wi-Fi hotspots offered by the Brussels-Capital Region in its territory. This project aims to improve digital access for the greatest number of Brussels' citizens and is a tool in the fight against the digital divide. The data
Total number of hotspots in the wifi.brussels network and geolocation of these hotspots on a map of the Brussels Region. Its origin
The number of hotspots and the geolocation of these hotspots on the UrbIS base map is taken automatically from the site http://urbiscloud.irisnet.be/dev/urbizone/index.htmlThe complete list of hotspots with their coordinates can be found on https://datastore.brussels/web/data/dataset/56345c96-d458-41b2-950f-13f5849cbea9
How is it obtained ?
The geolocation coordinates are published by the service provider IRISnet and then placed on an UrbIS base map. This base map is taken from UrbISOnline, a tool that allows users to view UrbIS orthophotos, UrbIS 3D data, or view and contact the UrbIS online services. https://urbisonline.brussels/These same Wi-Fi hotspots, with a different visual presentation, are also available here: http://wifi.brussels/
Comments
The hotspots were initially installed in public facilities (town hall, Actiris, Ministry for example - 86 INDOOR hotspots in GREEN), then at public square outdoors (112 OUTDOOR hotspots in BLUE), and finally in metro stations (200 METRO hotspots in RED).Source

25 12 2024Total number of cameras networked via the regional video surveillance platform
The regional CCTV platform integrates the various video camera networks existing in the Brussels-Capital Region to enable the sharing of images for the benefit of the parties concerned (police zones, public transport, Brussels Mobility, Port of Brussels, etc.), in strict compliance with the laws on privacy and the use of surveillance cameras. It collects data from Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras for police requirements, route controls and the low-emission zone (LEZ) as well as drone images which are provided by the federal police. The data
Total number of cameras networked via the platform last month. Its origin
The data is sent by the project team and entered manually in the dashboard. How is it obtained ?
The video surveillance platform allows different networks to share their cameras. When a network becomes accessible on the platform, all the cameras that make it up are added to the data. Therefore, this data evolves in successive stages every time a network connects.Comments
The number of cameras is theoretical. It does not take into account faulty cameras or cameras provided temporarily (such as drones). The objective of this platform is not to have a maximum number of CCTV but a maximum number of connected CCTV and therefore effective coverage.Dernière mise à jour

The internet and mobile platform Fix My Street, developed by the BRIC on the initiative of Brussels Mobility, allows the public and the administration to report incidents in the Brussels public space (concerning lighting, markings, street furniture, signing, damage, uncleanliness, etc.) and monitor each step in the incident resolution process. The data

This data records reports submitted by the public, generally meaning those entered by citizens. Reports submitted by professionals (municipal employees, Bruxelles-Propreté agents, law enforcement officers, police officers, for example) are marked as private by default. In 2019, 66% of incidents were reported by citizens. Reports in progress also include reports that have not yet been managed.Comments
For the past 2 years, inhabitants report the most incidents, which shows how well the application has been appropriated by citizens. Currently, the category most used (53%) relates to waste and public cleanliness (illegal dumping, torn or uncollected rubbish bags, for example), followed by damaged facades, and then signage problems. A new category was added in April 2020 for reporting abandoned bicycles. This category will be extended to abandoned vehicles, including shared scooters. The list and geolocation of all the reports can be found here: https://fixmystreet.brussels/listSource
