Web accessibility statement for www.smartcity.brussels
The Brussels Capital Region wishes to promote the use of the internet by making it more accessible, particularly for people with disabilities. We are therefore constantly improving the user experience and are applying the relevant accessibility standards accordingly.
Measures to improve accessibility
We have implemented the following measures to enhance the accessibility of our website:- the promotion of the use of the internet in a sustainable manner is included in the mission statement of the Brussels-Capital Region;
- accessibility is an essential component of the regional sustainability strategy. It is an intrinsic part of the regional policy;
- accessibility is included in the Region’s communication strategy;
- our employees have received training in accessibility standards.
Level of compliance with the accessibility standard
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) are a series of guidelines for improving web accessibility for people with disabilities. There are three levels at which these rules can be implemented: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA.Smartcity.brussels has been awarded its AnySurfer certification of full compliance on 14 April 2020 after certain parts of this website which didn’t adhere to the above rules were modified in February 2020.
