"The Bike Project": an action in motion in Brussels' companies!

25 October 2016

"The Bike Project" is an action launched by the Brussels Region in 2014 on the initiative of the Brussels Environment Agency and in partnership with Bruxelles Mobilité. This action aims to promote the use of bicycles among organisations that are required to implement a company mobility plan.

In 2015, nine organisations were chosen to benefit from free and tailor-made support: Hotel Le Plaza, Hotel Amigo, the Senate, The Bank of New York Mellon, AFSCA, the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage, the FPS Economy, Kone and Decathlon.

How does it work?

Each of the organisations selected benefits from eight months of personalised support provided by experts in active mobility and financed by the Brussels Environment Agency. The aim is to launch a genuine dynamic of bicycle use in companies.
To that end, "The Bike Project" offers free of charge, among other things:
?  the provision of a fleet of e-bikes, folding bikes, standard bikes and cargo bikes;
?  training in how to cycle in cities;
?  tailor-made routes.
In this way, workers who are interested can test a bicycle for two weeks. The project also aims to develop compliant, secure and practical facilities for cyclists.
