The official launch of the Women in TECH platform for the Brussels-Capital Region took place on 29 May 2017. The platform provides support to Brussels women interested in innovative entrepreneurship and ICTs.
The Brussels platform, Women in TECH, has been created within the context of the Next Tech regional plan, launched in January 2017. The aim of one of the measures of the plan is to
speed up the presence of women in innovative sectors of the high-tech industry and the creation of startups (FR/NL).
Women in TECH is a response to this mission by playing an awareness-raising, information and guidance role, targeted at Brussels women interested in innovative entrepreneurship and ICTs, or who would like to go into this sector.
The platform is orchestrated by the Brussels female entrepreneurship portal,
Women in Business (FR/NL). Its aim is to strengthen an ecosystem of partners and entrepreneurs by organising events, meetings, conferences and workshops. The initiative will also aim to guide and raise awareness among girls and women of the professions of the web.
The launch of Women in TECH is important for the Brussels-Capital Region because this initiative is directly linked to the Small Business Act (SBA), the Region’s first “SME Plan”, setting out the main focus areas of regional economic policy in relation to Brussels SMEs.
