Brussels is taking part in the Climathon 2017

16 October 2017

248 cities on 6 continents, including Brussels for Belgium, will participate, on 27 and 28 October 2017, in the third edition of the Climathon. For 24 hours the teams of this hackathon will seek innovative and positive energy performance solutions in favour of the climate.

For its first participation in the Climathon, Brussels will attempt to meet the challenge of improving the energy performance of buildings in the region. The Climathon will bring together entrepreneurs, scientists, students, elected representatives and citizens. Together, they will come up with new solutions to address this typically local issue.

Throughout the 24 hours of the event, an ideation process is implemented using a suitable methodology. The participants brainstorm in teams of a maximum of ten people and then defend their concept by having to pitch it. Validated by a jury of local experts, the aim is for the winning team’s solution to be subsequently actually deployed.

The Climathon is an organisation of the Climate-KIC, the EU’s main climate innovation initiative. This European public-private partnership is focused on innovation to help mitigate climate change and adapt to it. The Brussels Climathon is organised with the collaboration and support of Innoenergy which aims to achieve a sustainable energy future for Europe.
