Another successful Smart City event!

10 December 2018

Digital technologies and the Internet are becoming an ever more important part of our lives and offer new possibilities for our administrative, professional or recreational activities.

Many associations and start-ups strive daily to bring the Internet and digital technologies within reach of all, thereby closing the digital gap.

Last Saturday, 1 December, the event ‘Brussels Smart City: we’re all going digital!  – the digital inclusion forum’ was held at the Halles St-Géry in the centre of Brussels.

Almost 400 people strolled around our Smart Village where about 30 associations involved in digital inclusion presented their projects and their solutions. Many different population groupswere represented, including senior citizens, disabled people, job-seekers, children and adolescents.

Visitors got the chance to see 3D printing, taste printed pancakes and take part in practical workshops such as ‘Crack the code’ and discover FabLabs. Children were also shown basic coding and how to steer robots.

In addition, the associations had the opportunity to meet and establish synergies for the future.

On top of these activities, RTBF journalist Annick Capelle led a debate during which several speakers gave their responses to the challenges of digital inclusion.

The final event of the Brussels Smart City event series will take place on 24/04/2019.
