An app that calculates your chances of getting a job interview. People would no longer waste their time!

03 May 2019

Jobseeking is a job in its own right. Clever people understand this and know how to optimise their work. They don’t wait for a job to turn up. They use principles and strategies to find a job. The good news: everyone can be a strategic jobseeker. DESIGN AN APP THAT INCREASES PEOPLE’S CHANCES OF GETTING A JOB INTERVIEW.

I’m assuming that you need to fulfil at least 80% of a company’s requirements before you can consider applying for a job
  • My project is to launch an application that collects job advertisements in all areas. People need to enter keywords or job titles to refine their searches. Search criteria can also be defined: location, contract type, etc. Ads will be sorted by relevance. Once the criteria have been saved, the applicant will receive notifications when offers that match their profile are published. These criteria can be changed at any time
  • The core function of the app will be to assess people’s chances of getting a job interview. It will request permission to access your CV on LinkedIn (this has to be approved prior to the assessment). Each job requirement or skill will be matched by the app against your CV and it will then give you an estimate of your chances in the form of a percentage. Of course, you can change your CV (from social media) in the app and use keywords. The app will suggest action verbs so that your CV is result-oriented and the results can be calculated. Whenever one of your skills is confirmed, the app awards you 100%. An unconfirmed skill is awarded 0%. Finally, the app will supply your overall match percentage. For the recruiter to be interested, this needs to be at least 80%.
  • Finally, you can apply directly and be almost certain of getting an interview. If your match percentage is less than 80%, your chances are very low and the app advises you against trying for this job.
  • If a candidate wants to apply despite low chances, he/she can have him/herself co-opted (networking) in order to gain an advantage over the competition.
