Brussels rooftop gardens

25 September 2019

Use rooftops (think Supermarket roofs, parkingbuilding roof etc.) to create green spaces which helps cool down the cities and ideally cultivate regional products.

Use rooftops (think supermarket roofs, parkingbuilding roofs etc.) to create green spaces which help cool down the cities and ideally cultivate regional products. The Delhaize in Boondael already does that and we are hungry for more! We could go further and have schools to cultivate regional products for the school canteens etc. to use freely. This will allow children to learn about the different vegetable/fruit seasons We could go even further and have private appartement buildings, with the help of the city, set up urban rooftop gardens to cultivate regional products for the residents to use. This initiative will not only help cool down the cities and contribute to cleaner air, but also help us move toward a healthier and sustainable lifestyle (shorter food circuits, less plastic, awareness of seasonal products).
