CHALLENGE

Meal box network

28 November 2019

Restaurants could start a solidarity network so that their surplus food could be given to homeless or poor people.

Brussels restaurants could put their surplus food in dedicated boxes (made of recyclable cardboard or bamboo), and use a special lighted sign (LEDs or a different colour in the window) to notify passers-by that the restaurant has a food surplus that can be collected. This could also be notified via a smartphone app (except that homeless people often don't have smartphones, hence the idea of a sign in the window).
