Like last year, Agoria, the federation of technological industries, is organizing the "Agoria eGov & Smart City Awards" to reward the most deserving IT-projects of public services, for the 17th year in a row. Projects can be submitted until Friday, October 9.
This edition will take place under the motto “Building the Digital Society together”, in which both e-government and Smart City projects can compete. In addition to the well-known awards for 'innovation', 'user-friendliness', 'profitability' and 'cooperation', a prize for ‘sustainability’ will be awarded for the first time this year. The projects that, according to the jury, can present the best mix of the proposed criteria have a chance to win the title and accompanying award 'Best Smart City project of 2020 and Best e-gov project of 2020'.
All operational eGov and Smart City projects can compete for the different categories. Full details on how to participate can be found on the
Agoria website, as well as the registration form and competition rules. Projects are still submitted by a government agency / city / intermunicipal company in collaboration and support with at least one company (or a consortium of companies).
The Brussels Regional Informatics Centre (BRIC) itself has submitted several projects in the past. In 2015
Fix My Street, the app developed by the BRIC on behalf of Brussels Mobility, won the Smart City Technology Award in the" Digital "category. And IRISbox reached the final in 2018 with its new functionalities.
Do you want to submit a project? Everyone knows government departments have many interesting IT-projects (and that competition can be fierce)! So don't be too modest and participate immediately. The prizes will be officially awarded during a gala evening on Thursday 3 December 2020 in Tervuren. Of course, with strict observance of all Corona measures and guidelines.
