Non-profit association Solival is offering specific support, accessible on the Brussels Health Network, to help people over the age of 65 to take control of their Shared Medical Record. It takes place online on 25/11 and 10/12 and is completely free!
Solival set up this pilot project following a call for projects from the Common Community Commission (COCOM). It is initially mainly targeting people over 65 years of age living in the municipality of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe. If its results are convincing, it will then be extended to other Brussels municipalities.
This initiative is meeting an increasingly urgent need. The Shared Medical Record is a digital tool that allows the electronic sharing of the medical data of each citizen via the Brussels Health Network. This means that all the doctors involved in caring for a patient have access to a global view of their medical record. It is also on this online platform that COVID-19 test results are communicated. More and more people, of all ages and backgrounds, must therefore connect to it. This can be complicated for some groups, especially senior citizens.
But what is Solival?
Solival is a French-speaking non-profit organisation that offers free advice and support in choosing accommodation and technical and/or technological aids to improve people's autonomy. Through its CyberVal service (advice on new technologies for occupational therapists), Solival also wishes to position itself as a benchmark player in digital inclusion. Within this framework, Solival is involved in global deliberations and is developing projects that help to combat the digital divide.
Solival, in collaboration with the Réseau Santé Bruxellois and the LUSS (Ligue des Usagers des Services de Santé), is offering two online events to give as many citizens as possible access to its Shared Health Record:
- Wednesday 25 November from 10.00 to 11.30 am: an interactive information session during which the Brussels Health Network will explain the advantages of the Shared Medical Record and provide general information on how it works.
- Thursday 10 December from 2.00 to 3.30 pm: training in the tool so that each person has the keys to take control of their Shared Medical Record. Participants will be guided through the process step-by-step so that they have a practical understanding of how the tool works.
