On Thursday 7 October, the Rencontres du Numérique (Digital Technology Meeting) will be held at the initiative of Mr Bernard Clerfayt, Minister of Digital Transition. On the agenda: the digital challenges to be faced in a post-COVID-19 world.
Without digital solutions, it would have been difficult to manage the sudden appearance of COVID-19 in our lives: the roll-out of home working from one day to the next, administrative procedures available only online, remote teaching, etc.
The pervasiveness of digital technology also raises a number of questions. The time has come to look at how digital solutions are going to accompany the challenges of the post-COVID-19 world.
The first session of the Digital Technology Meeting will be held at the Solvay Library this Thursday to discuss these questions. Two leading speakers will share their respective visions and experiences of digital technology.
- Anna Piperal, Managing Director of the e-Estonia Briefing Centre, an executive and innovation centre located in Tallinn. Estonia plays a major role in the digital world: it is often shown as a model for e-government. Anna Piperal directed the construction project of VR-Estonia, a virtual reality platform that offers everyone the chance to immerse themselves in Estonian digital reality.
- Gilles Babinet is currently the joint President of the Conseil National du Numérique (French Digital Council). As a self-taught serial entrepreneur, he has been a Digital Champion for the European Commission for 10 years. He promotes a digital society open to all.
The ideas and proposals that emerge from this Digital Technology Meeting will fuel the work on the new IT governance being set up in the Brussels Region.
This process is also part of the Region's Smart City ambitions.
