"I'm moving to digital banking" sessions soon to be available to Brussels citizens!

29 August 2022

A few weeks ago, the Brussels-Capital Region and the Belgian Financial Sector Federation, Febelfin committed to supporting citizens in their digital autonomy and mastery of digital tools until 2025 through online/mobile banking courses and awareness initiatives. No fewer than 7 Brussels municipalities are involved in the action led by the Brussels Regional Informatics Centre and Febelfin! These training courses will start on 19 September in the Forest Digital Public Space (DPS)!

Checking your balance online, making transfers using your banking application, making contactless payments or paying by QR Code, etc. Not all citizens have adopted these habits, often due to a lack of resources, digital skills, or confidence in terms of security.

In order to support Brussels citizens in their digital autonomy, on 14 June, the Brussels Regional Informatics Centre (BRIC), easy.brussels and Febelfin signed a partnership agreement in which the stakeholders commit to practical actions on the ground until 2025.

The "I'm moving to digital banking" sessions will be launched in mid-September. Overseen by the BRIC and Febelfin, these information and support sessions will be organised in seven participating municipalities in the Brussels Region: Schaerbeek, Ixelles, Watermael-Boitsfort, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Forest and Etterbeek. A Febelfin representative will present the first hour of training on online banking and the different types of fraud, such as phishing or fraud relating to false claims for assistance. The second part of the training will be dedicated to providing individual support to citizens. Representatives from the major Belgian banks will be present to answer questions about the specific features of their online banking services, help their customers to install or use the application, or make an appointment for individual support at a later date. The participating banks are Belfius, ING, BNP Paribas Fortis, KBC Brussels, Beobank and bpost bank.

Particularly affected by the digital banking divide, pensioners are invited to take part in these sessions as a priority. However, these courses are open to all and free of charge.
