This week, Agoria, the Belgian Federation for the Technology Industry, revealed all the nominees for the Digital Society Awards for eGov & Smart Cities. Brussels Environment and the BRIC are nominated in the brand-new "Sustainability" category with the Bruxell'Air allowance.
For the 19th year running, in collaboration with TMAB Business Events, Agoria is organising the Agoria Digital Society Awards, which aims to reward the most commendable IT projects in government services.
A few weeks ago,
Brussels Environment and the Brussels Regional Informatics Centre submitted their candidature for the Bruxell'Air initiative, a mobility allowance for private individuals residing in the Brussels-Capital Region.
This "mobility budget", which is granted to the applicant following the cancellation of a licence plate, is to be spent on the mobility services from which the applicant or a member of his/her household benefits. This allowance aims to support the modal shift, improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Brussels Region. Various players, such as the STIB, Pro Velo, Cambio, Poppy and Modalizy, are taking part in this mechanism enabling Brussels residents to choose between various mobility options.
It should also be noted that all Brussels residents can be accompanied in this process by a Mobility Coach, a person who guides them free of charge in their mobility choices according to their needs and the journeys they make.
Brussels Environment and the BRIC will be in the running for the "Sustainability" award alongside the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO) and the Intermunicipal Development for Kempen (IOK), both participating respectively with the "Digitale klimaatscan voor de Vlaamse landbouwers” (Digital Climate Scan for Flemish Farmers) project and the Bike2School project.
Alongside the "innovation" award, prizes will also be presented for "conviviality", "profitability" and "collaboration", as well as a new award for the best eHealth project.
