Kick-off of the "Digital Brussels 2.0" call for projects for digital inclusion!

03 July 2023

Paying bills, registering children for school and completing administrative procedures online are all actions that are not so commonplace for many. Many people in Brussels are confronted daily with difficulties in using digital tools and therefore feel excluded from this virtual world.

Digital inclusion is a cross-cutting societal issue that must be taken into consideration at all levels of government and at every stage of a citizen's life. The Brussels-Capital Region is well aware of this challenge and launched a Digital Appropriation Plan in 2021.

To increase the digital skills of Brussels residents, the Brussels Government, under the impulse of the Minister of Digital Transition, Bernard Clerfayt, has approved the launch of the 2023 Digital.Brussels call for projects, which amounts to a total of 300,000 euros.

The first edition, launched in 2021 by the Brussels Region, in partnership with the King Baudouin Foundation and Paradigm, resulted in the selection of 30 winners from 132 proposed projects. Each project received financial support ranging from €5,000 to €15,000, with a total amount of almost €390,000.

Like last year, this second edition is based on three pillars:
- increase digital motivation and build digital trust
- facilitate access to digital technology
- develop digital skills

From 30,000 to 60,000 euros

This year, the selected organisations will receive financial support ranging from €30,000 to €60,000.

The projects must be practical, directly achievable and promote access, skills and the use of digital tools for those people who are most removed and who do not frequent digital spaces or structures that offer access to and training in digital tools.
Ideally, the public in question does not have to pay anything to benefit from the project. In any case, the price must remain democratic and justified.

The project must be organised on the territory of the Brussels-Capital Region.

Applications must be submitted to Paradigm by 28 August 2023 at the latest.

Target audience(s)

Only NPOs, local companies and entities active in one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region can respond to this call for projects.
