Transparency and access to information are essential requirements for citizens, who are bombarded daily with potentially unreliable information. All inhabitants of Brussels must have access to reliable and objective data concerning their region.
This is the goal pursued on a daily basis by BISA, the Brussels Institute for Statistics and Analysis. As specified by European regulations, BISA develops, produces and disseminates the Brussels Region statistics in a spirit of scientific independence and in an objective, professional, and transparent manner, ensuring that all users are on an equal footing.
In concrete terms, via its statistics.brussels website, BISA supplies all public statistics concerning the various aspects of life in the Brussels Region: economy, population, housing, mobility, etc. The BISA website also contains a number of sections which present and explain the Brussels statistics in a way that is both light-hearted and educational. To the figures are added complementary socio-economic analyses to keep viewers abreast of the Region’s issues.
In 2015, BISA also developed social-network accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) to relay its latest figures and analyses.
