visit.brussels welcomes you on 24 September! Until then, you can take part in the new call for projects launched by the regional tourist board. With a budget of 500,000 euros, visit.brussels aims to support the development of sustainable, digital and inclusive tourism initiatives, so it can meet the new expectations of customers and visitors and enhance their experience.
The health crisis offers the opportunity to develop tourism that is not only respectful of the region and its inhabitants, but also brings real added value to the destination. visit.brussels will therefore promote projects on themes such as green spaces, sustainable food, soft, active mobility, the circular economy, and local and citizen initiatives.
Another priority of visit.brussels is equal opportunities! Offers, concepts, products, events, mobile applications, and infrastructures promoting the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people and people with disabilities, gender equality and social mix (social classes, ethnic and cultural origin, etc.) are also eligible for funding.
The crisis is also leading to major changes in the behaviour and expectations of visitors and consumers, particularly in terms of digitalisation. visit.brussels wants to support this 'tourism transformation' by boosting the digitalisation of the sector. The fund will aim to support investments in sustainable digital technologies that enhance the visitor experience, such as gamification (city games, interactive museum games, treasure hunts, etc.), immersive experiences (virtual reality, augmented reality, etc.), artificial intelligence (chatbots), mobile applications (geolocation) and hybrid solutions for events (online meetings).
Who is the call for projects specifically aimed at?
Managers of tourist, cultural and heritage attractions, stakeholders in the artistic and cultural world, event venues and organisers, etc. They can all apply for this call for projects if they intend to carry out their project in the Brussels-Capital Region or if their project benefits the cultural and/or tourist and/or MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) sectors in the Brussels-Capital Region. Each project must have started no earlier than 1 January 2021 and no later than 30 November 2021.
Not just a call for projects!
This new call for projects from visit.brussels is part of a more general tourism revival plan drawn up in collaboration with the stakeholders in the sector. This plan includes, among other things, a communication and promotion campaign for the destination, the distribution of 40-euro vouchers primarily to the border regions of neighbouring countries and the creation of a bicycle hub.
