Brussels Smart City - Fiber to the School

"virtually learning virtually anything"! We did it: at the end of this year, all secondary schools in the Brussels-Capital Region will be equipped with broadband internet. This opens many doors for the schools concerned, but also raises a great amount of questions. That is why the Brussels Regional Informatics Centre has decided to zoom in on connected schools at its next Smart City event. Our host will be the Royal Athenium Crommelynck in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. The programme of this dynamic, instructive day filled with interesting content includes the following activities: knowledge sharing between headmasters and headmistresses, an interactive training and animation for primary and secondary school students, and workshops for parents and teachers. Do reserve 27 November in your agenda!

Brussels Smart City - we’re all going digital!

A 'smart' Region is a region that strives for optimal integration of all its citizens, and the digital element is one of the indispensable levers for facilitating this inclusion. Brussels Smart City: we’re all going digital is the next event we are organising for you to explore the numerous innovative solutions that allow everyone to jump on board the digital transition train, in an interactive and fun way. Many actors are working on a daily basis to reduce the digital gap and enable the maximum number of people to take full advantage of the services offered by the computer, the Internet and digitisation. This includes all areas of life, on a personal or professional level. They will be waiting to meet you on Saturday 1st December from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Halles Saint-Géry. The event is open to everyone. More information will be available soon on this site.

Brussels Smart City : municipalities and citizens in the digital age

The Brussels Smart City programme of events is continuing until 2019. Having already tackled education, culture and the economy, our next event will look at local authorities and will be aimed at all elected municipal councillors and municipal officials. The digital revolution has not only changed our way of life, but has also forced local authorities to change. Digital solutions have become an incredible opportunity for local development. They allow us to improve citizen services and strengthen social ties. Brussels’ municipalities have taken heed of this and the Region is supporting them in their digital endeavours. Digital projects are springing up in diverse fields, from online administration to social networks, tools for citizen participation, intelligent infrastructure management, open data, and more. And Brussels is also being transformed into a smart city in all of its 19 municipalities! What role do local governments play in this new digital age? What role can technology play in the democratic process, in order to stimulate citizen participation? How can we use it to simplify municipal administration and management? What examples can we follow? These are just a few of the questions that will be considered during the next Brussels Smart City event. Make space in your diaries for 17 May!

Brussels Smart City for Economy

Having already tackled education and culture, the latest Brussels Smart City event was dedicated to the economy and was aimed at Brussels-based entrepreneurs. What are your needs? Which different types of support can the Brussels-Capital Region offer you? Brussels Smart City has invited you to an engaging event run by and for Brussels-based entrepreneurs, on Monday 13 November 2017, 3pm-9.30pm at the Palais des Académies (Brussels). Smart cities around the world

The 21st century is the age of the city: most people already live in cities and the number is growing all the time. To rise to this challenge, cities and metropolises around the world, like the Brussels-Capital Region, are transforming themselves into smart cities or setting out a smart city strategy in a White Paper.
